Curry time

Today in home ec we made a low fat chicken curry. I am really proud of how well we did and it tasted amazing, defiantly a winner in my books. I worked with Bradley and Tana and we worked well together.

Next time I would put some veges in the curry to boost the nutrition and make it go further. I would also serve it with brown rice instead of white rice.

How oxygen is carried in the blood.

Here you will learn how oxygen is carried in our blood. This is an extension task for science.

Transportation of oxygen:

Even though oxygen can disolve in blood, only 1.5% of oxygen travels this way. Most oxygen in your body ( 98.5%) attached to a protein called haemoglobin.

Haemoglobin:

Haemoglobin is a protein found inside red blood cells made of four sub units. Each unit surrounds a heme group ( containing iron) and binds one oxygen molecule to the heme group. Each red blood cell can carry four oxygen molecules. Blood with higher amounts of oxygen being carried is bright red while lower oxygen levels are shown by darker blood.

It is easier for the second or third oxygen molecule to bind to the hemo group because with each added oxygen molecule the hemo group changes shape.

art blog

In art we have been working on lino prints, I am almost finished mine.

I chose the pipiwharauroa because I think the bird is cheeky and cute looking. I also really like its colours and stripes

Describe stylisation and positive/negative space in your work: I have given the bird a maori stylisation to fit with its habitat. I have used positive and negative space to bring out its features.

What ideas do you have for your orphist circle layers. I have used two layers for the orphist design and they are different colours.

I am using red, yellow and black for my lino cut.

A diseased mind (50 ideas pt 1)

I have been learning about psychology from the book '50 ideas you need to know about psychology'. I am enjoying learning from this book and find it really interesting.

Critical literacy (Macbeth)

What we are learning: we are answering critical literacy questions about Macbeth.

What genre does this text (Macbeth) belong in?  It is  a tragedy because many lives are lost and its a whole blood show.Currently it would be a historical fiction and a tragedy. Historical fiction because this is set in history rather than present day and deals with many historical issues.

Why are we reading this text? Macbeth has many themes that relate to all times. The tales of ambition, murder and morals are still relevant today. Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers to ever live and his work deserves to be read. This text also helps improve our reading comprehension.

What views of the world is this text representing? Macbeth depicts a kill or be killed world in the pursuit of power. This also depicts a world where magic and danger were ever present.
