Pizza

On Friday, in Home ec, we made pizza. I worked with Nadia, Jess and Connor this week. We worked well and our strategy of determining roles helped us to achieve our goal.

We are learning: We are learning about food culture and its evolution throughout time.
How does this show my learning: Pizza is a dish which is originally  Italian, but has now become a staple in New Zealand homes.
I am wondering: how different dough recipes would change the crust of the pizza.

First the dough:
The dough was made of self raising flour, Greek yogurt and salt. This is an extremely simple recipe with a great outcome. It takes much less time than using scone dough or dough with yeast in it, due to the lack of preparation needed or resting time for yeast.

Vegetables:
We had a variety of vegetables we could choose to put on our pizza. We had tomato, mushroom, capsicum and pineapple ( yes, its a fruit).
We had two people cutting the vegetables, which were finished around the same time as the dough was prepared. This worked really well.

Meat:
We had two varieties of meat we could add to our pizza, ham and pepperoni.
The ham needed to be shredded and we cut the pepperoni into cubes. We had two people cutting the meat.

Assembly:
Once the veggies, meat and dough were prepared, it was time to assemble our pizzas. The dough needed to be shaped into discs on a lined tray. Sauce was applied ( because we need sauce). Vegetables and meat ( depending on what each person wanted) were put on the pizzas by each person. Then, of course, we needed cheese. Once the cheese was on the pizza, it was time to put them in the oven.

Reflection:
Our team worked well, working efficiently, on time and with no mistakes. We worked well together and communicated what we needed to do very well.
The pizza turned out delicious. The base was perfect and the flavor was great.

Nutrition:

In the base there is around one serving of carbohydrate.
There is less than a single serving of vegetables and protien (I didn't have meat on mine) on the pizza.
There was one good serving of dairy and fat from the cheese and Greek yogurt.

Over all, the pizza could do with a piece of fruit with it to make it a complete meal, maybe adding some high protein yogurt to make up for the lack of such on the pizza.
