So what happens if you eat too much sugar?

The things that eating too much sugar are...
- weight gain ( really obvious)
-increased risk of heart disease
- increase the risk of acne
-increased risk of diabetes
-increased risk of cancer
-ageing process made quicker.

What it does to your brain
-sugar releases a chemical called dopamine. Dopamine is a feel good hormone. Dopamine is released, gives you a good feeling and is highly addictive. That's why we  are constantly craving sugar ( or is it just me, anyone?) . After the high then comes a down feeling. This high and low cycle can lead to depression.

Pancreas

When you eat, your pancreas pumps out insulin. But if you’re eating way too much sugar and your body stops responding properly to insulin, your pancreas starts pumping out even more insulin. Eventually, your overworked pancreas will break down and your blood sugar levels will rise, setting you up for type 2 diabetes and heart disease. (Yay!)

Heart
When you eat excess sugar, the extra insulin in your bloodstream can affect your arteries, part of your body’s circulatory system. This causes the walls of blood vessels to grow fast and creates complications .

How much sugar does it take to kill you (...)?

for a 180 pound (81 kg) male it would take 5.4 (2.5 kg) pounds of sugar to kill you. That is equal to about 1.5 of the vanilla birthday cakes. (yum?)

  1. Hi Rheanna, this blog is superb! I really like how you talked about what happens to specific body parts such as the Brain, Pancreas and Heart when you eat cake. You shouldn't have put recipes because now my body is going to sugar overdose! Well done.
